An illustrated history of nursing uniforms
ROMANIAN RED CROSS NURSE
Welcome to An Illustrated History of Nursing Uniforms, where we take a look at different uniforms from a variety of disciplines, countries, rank and sex of nurses.
The uniform of a Romanian Red Cross nurse circa 1913.
In 1913, during the second Balkan War, members of the Romanian Red Cross helped soldiers suffering from cholera on Bulgarian territory. The uniform combines the nun's habit with the Red Cross arm band - this particular uniform has a couture feel to it with it's high neck, leather trim jacket and oversize muff.
