This image is taken from a photograph by Spanish photographer Luis Ramón Marin. It depicts a nurse working at the Hospital de Sangre de Buitrago in 1936. The Spanish Civil War was fought between 1936-1939 between the Nationalist and the Republicans.
The nurse wears a pinafore style dress with the logo of the Red Cross on the front. One unique detail of her outfit is her lace collar- a feature which has unfortunately not been passed down through generations to modern nursing uniforms.
