Introducing Aimee Walton, a nurse working at Leicestershire NHS Trust, as PRN's new beauty editor. She begins with her recommendations for skin care products to help you look and feel your best whilst at work.
As nurses we work long days and nights, so we need the right products to help us feel as good as possible all shift long. I've put together my favourite products along with some handy tips to help you look and feel your best 24/7.
Benefit Erase Paste
I think this creamy concealer is ideal for covering all those sins, especially the dark circles we are prone to around our eyes - particularly when working night shifts. It's only a small pot for £20.99 but it lasts if you just use a small amount. I've had mine for 7 months, I use it everyday and there's still lots left. I love the creamy texture and how it brings your eyes back to life on those early mornings.
Gosh Powder Primer
I have found the perfect product to wave goodbye to that shiny look. Gosh have released their new powder primer which works wonders for fighting shine, especially if you're working a long day. A simple dusting of this white powder creates a perfect base for your foundation or can be worn simply on its own. It's lightweight and perfect for the more oily skin type. It lasts a long time and I think it's a steal for only £10.99 in Superdrug.
When it comes to foundation I think it's a very personal affair as everyone has such different skin types. I found my perfect foundation by visiting the various make up counters in Debenhams, where they'll match both your colour and skin type. I suggest trying a few before you make your purchase, and I've always thought that spending a little more gives you the best results all day long.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Bronzer is an essential part of my daily make up routine. It shapes the face and gives that instant natural glow (as long as you don't over do it!) For me this is the best bronzer as it's perfect for contouring the face. Its slightly pricey at £23.50 in Boots but well worth it to enhance those cheekbones.
Blusher gives your face that finishing touch and for me, natural looking healthy cheeks are a must. You need to buy blusher with your skin tone and hair colour in mind. Normally blondes and red heads suit more peachy blushers whilst brunettes suit more pink tones. My personal favourite is Soap and Glory multi-shade powder which comes in pink or peach - at only £11.00 it's a bargain.
